アメリカのSF作家オクティヴィア・エステル・バトラーの作品でParableシリーズ2部作の2作目。3作目の構想もあったが、2006年に他界。
ネビュラ賞(長編小説部門)受賞作品。

「Parable of the Talents」は主人公Lauren Oya Olamina、娘のLarkin Olamina、夫のTaylor Franklin Bankoleの視点で描かれています。
前作の5年後、Laurenは新興宗教「Earthseed」を基盤としたコミュニティ「Acorn」を設立する。
そして人類が成熟するためには地球を出て他の惑星への旅が必要と説く・・・

Parable of the Talents is the second in a series of two by Octavia Butler, a sequel to Parable of the Sower. It won the Nebula Award for Best Novel.
