不思議の国のアリス、150周年記念ポスター

Alice's Adventures under Ground(地下の国のアリス)は、ルイス・キャロルが1864年に知人の娘アリス・リデルに贈った手書きの本で、Alice's Adventures in Wonderland(不思議の国のアリス)の原型となった物語。

[Story]
1862年、ルイス・キャロルはリデル家の三姉妹(ロリーナ, アリス, イーディス)らとピクニックに行った際、テムズ川をボートで上っている最中に、アリスのために即興のお話をしてあげた。これを気に入ったアリスは、この話を書き留めておくように頼むと、ルイス・キャロルはピクニック翌日から執筆に取り掛かる。物語の執筆に加え挿絵の執筆も完了した2年後の1864年、ボートの上で語ってあげた物語を装丁も全て自分で手掛けて本にしてアリスにプレゼントした。

この時贈られた本がAlice's Adventures under Ground(地下の国のアリス)である。
